Wine

Murdoch Hill The Surrey Pinot Meunier is made with a rare relative of Pinot Noir sourced from a small vineyard high in the Piccadilly Valley, Adelaide Hills.

Planted on a north-west aspect, the vines see plenty of sunshine to ripen the fruit to its full potential. At 525 metres elevation, the altitude takes the edge off the summer heat.

A hands off winemaking approach prevails. The fruit, including a high proportion of whole bunches, is open fermented with indigenous yeast. Maturation occurs in mostly seasoned oak barrels for just six months to best express the fruit.

The wine is named after a type of horse drawn carriage, whose solid frame and open sides provided a balance of stability and freedom to its occupants.

Crimson red, Murdoch Hill The Surrey Pinot Meunier is a silky wine with cherry and plum flavours. Cellaring potential is seven years.
